During February half-term, over 190 youngsters aged 7 to 10, attended the coaching sessions arranged by myself with the assistance of the Jersey professional players and my sponsors FirstRand Private Wealth Management. The three days were a huge success and the three separate locations, Grainville, Jersey RFC and Les Quennevais, enabled youngsters from all over the Island to improve their rugby skills and play matches under the watchful eye of Nathan Kemp, Talite ‘V’ Vaioleti, Sam Tuia, George Dixon and Rich Stevens.

The professionals were hugely impressed with the effort, enthusiasm and ability displayed by the youngsters and as well as a good number of youngsters from the Jersey RFC Academy set up, there was a large contingent who have either never tried rugby before or don’t play at the club and this is really encouraging for the development of rugby across the Island.

There are more camps being held over the Easter break, again with the Jersey Professionals, and the same format will be used. The camps will run from 10am to 1pm and will be based at Grainville rugby pitch on Tuesday 13th April, Jersey RFC on Wednesday 14th April and Les Quennevais rugby pitch on Thursday 14th April.

We also have firmed up dates for the June half-term camps which will run at the same venues on 2,3 and 4 June.
